Introducing our new Principal

Mrs Sharyn Quirk

Stella Maris College is delighted to introduce Mrs Sharyn Quirk as the College’s 19th Principal.

Mrs Quirk will assume the role in January 2025 following the retirement of Mrs Elizabeth Carnegie after 10 years of dedicated leadership.

It was evident during the comprehensive recruitment process that Mrs Quirk’s leadership style, pursuit of excellence, care for her community, and advocacy for all-girls’ education are an excellent fit for Stella.

Mrs Quirk comes to us from Brigidine College, Randwick where she has held the role of Principal for almost six years. She has had a distinguished career in Catholic girls’ education, holding assistant principal and senior leadership positions in curriculum and assessment, pastoral care and performing arts at St Clare’s College (ACT) and St Mary Mackillop College (ACT). She has held teaching positions at Waverley College (NSW), Santa Sabina College (NSW), Xavier College (VIC,) and St Francis Xavier High School (ACT).

Mrs Quirk holds a Master of Religious Education and a Bachelor of Music Education.

Commenting on her appointment, Mrs Quirk said, “I am very much looking forward to immersing myself in the vibrant community of Stella Maris and championing the ongoing pursuit of excellence in all-girls’ education. It is clear that Stella prioritises the growth and wellbeing of students and staff and it is my aim to continue to foster a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered.”

The College looks forward to introducing Mrs Quirk to the Stella community later this year when she visits as part of a thorough handover and transition process. There will be an opportunity to honour and thank Mrs Carnegie for her leadership in Term 4, with further details to follow.
