The Duke of Edinburgh program at Stella is hugely popular with between 250 and 350 Stella students from Years 9 to 12 working towards their Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards each year.

Over the past few years Stella has been the largest girls’ school participating in the program in New South Wales.

Students may begin their Bronze Award at a minimum age of 14, their Silver at 15 and Gold at 16. Each Award has four components: Physical Recreation, Skills, Voluntary Service and Adventurous Journey.

Most expeditions are held around our local area including Brisbane Waters, Ku-ring-gai, the Royal and Lane Cove National Parks. Expeditions are offered in canoeing, hiking and horse riding. Silver and Gold participants can also choose to experience alpine hiking in The Snowy Mountains, complete a five-day hike in Tasmania and/ or complete their residential component in Cambodia working in local village schools.
