Music for everyone!

Stella offers a wide range of music ensembles to engage every type of musician. Our ensembles perform at College and community events and have the opportunity to go on tour.

Performance Band: Performing in the concert band style, this band is open to all instrumental musicians in Years 7-12. No audition is required and students rehearse once a week. Students tackle a range of challenging repertoire, from contemporary to the classics, extending their musicality and ensemble performance skills. This band performs at College events and represents the College in performances in the local community. Students with less experience are supported with additional small group rehearsals to help with any challenging repertoire.

Contemporary Ensemble: Performing contemporary music, this ensemble is open to all instrumental musicians/ vocalists and rehearses once a week.

Jazz Band: Performing in the jazz style, Jazz Band is open to all instrumental musicians and rehearses once a week on Tuesday at lunchtime,

String Group: String Group is open to all string musicians (violin, viola, cello, double bass) and rehearses once a week on Wednesday at lunchtime.

Contemporary Band/s: Performing contemporary music, the band is open to all instrumental musicians/vocalists and rehearses once a week on Monday/Tuesday at lunchtime.

Vocal Ensemble: Vocal Ensemble performs a mix of repertoire and is open to all vocalists. Students rehearse once a week on Thursday at lunchtime.

Senior Vocal Ensemble: Senior Vocal Ensemble performs a mix of repertoire. Students are selected via audition and rehearse once a week on Thursday mornings.

Guitar Ensemble: Students perform a mix of repertoire. The ensemble is open to guitarists and bass players and rehearses once a week on Friday at lunchtime.

Drum Club: Drum Club is open to all musicians and rehearses on Thursday morning before school.

‘Tune Up’: 'Tune Up' is a remedial lunchtime club formed to assist music students with any deficits in music theory. Support is also available in composition, listening or performance techniques. Students may attend on Monday at lunchtime.

Private Tuition

Stella offers private instrumental/ vocal tuition at the College. Lessons take place during the school day on a rotating timetable, so students do not miss the same academic class each week. Highly qualified tutors provide private instruction in the following:
