Principal's Message

It is with great joy and pride that I congratulate the Class of 2025 on the release of their Higher School Certificate results. These achievements reflect not only academic accomplishment, but the determination, discipline, and integrity with which our students have embraced the final chapter of their schooling at Stella Maris College.

The Class of 2025 has much to celebrate. Their results speak to sustained effort and aspiration, while their growth as confident, capable young women speaks to something even deeper. Across the cohort, students have risen to challenges, discovered their strengths, and shaped their own pathways to success. Each journey has been distinctive, and each deserves recognition and applause.

In the 2025 Sydney Morning Herald HSC rankings, the College was placed 93rd among approximately 850 high schools across New South Wales. To be ranked among the top 100 schools in the State as a comprehensive, non-selective school is an impressive outcome and a reflection of the shared commitment of students, staff, and families.

At Stella Maris, academic success is nurtured within a community that places equal value on wellbeing, care, and formation. Our graduates leave us well prepared for future study, work, and life — young women of compassion, resilience, and purpose who embody our commitment to strong minds and open hearts.

I extend my sincere gratitude to our dedicated teachers for their expertise, care, and unwavering belief in each student, and to our parents and carers for their trust and partnership. To the Class of 2025: you have made your College immensely proud. We look forward with confidence and hope as you step into the next chapter of your lives.

Mrs Sharyn Quirk
Principal

Congratulations to our College Dux

We are delighted to acknowledge our 2025 College Dux, Linyu (Patricia) Pei. As an international student, Patricia’s success represents not only academic excellence, but also significant personal growth through her educational journey in Australia.

Patricia approached her studies in English (EAL/D), Chemistry, Mathematics Extension 1 and 2 and Chinese and Literature and with remarkable focus and consistency. She attributes her outstanding results to sustained diligence in every lesson and her ability to maintain concentration throughout the year, demonstrating that consistent, dedicated effort is the true foundation of academic excellence.

A defining influence at Stella was her English teacher, Ms Collins, whose teaching played a crucial role in her transition and success. Patricia describes Ms Collins as kind, enthusiastic, and deeply attentive to each student's individual way of thinking. Coming from a different educational background, Patricia felt genuinely heard and understood. Ms Collins’ talent for explaining complex concepts with clarity and expressive guidance helped bridge Patricia’s learning transition, allowing her to gain confidence, participate actively, and thrive.

Reflecting on her time at Stella Maris College, Patricia notes a significant shift in her understanding of education. While academic rigour was paramount, she came to equally value the school's emphasis on personal development, responsibility, and ethical values. Stella supported her not only to achieve academically but also to grow into a responsible, independent young person, prepared for all aspects of life beyond school. This holistic approach left a lasting impression and shaped her perspective on true success.

Looking ahead, Patricia plans to commence university studies while gaining part-time work experience, continuing the discipline, values, and resilience that defined her journey as Dux of Stella Maris College.

First in Course EAL/D

Tiffany Tsui placed first in the course for English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D). A dedicated student and leader, Tiffany balanced academic excellence with meaningful involvement in school life.

Tiffany studied English EAL/D, Mathematics Standard, Hospitality, Entertainment, and Japanese Beginners, with English and Mathematics being her most enjoyed subjects. She particularly valued the creativity and self-expression offered through English, alongside the logical thinking and problem-solving skills developed in Mathematics.

Beyond the classroom, Tiffany actively contributed to the school community. She volunteered at major school events such as Open Night and worked as a crew member for numerous performing arts productions. In 2025, she also served as International Student Prefect, demonstrating leadership, responsibility, and a strong commitment to supporting others within the Stella community.

Tiffany attributes her academic success to understanding how she learns best and maintaining consistency throughout the year. Staying organised, setting small achievable goals, asking questions, and seeking help when needed were key strategies that supported her progress. She also emphasises the importance of balance, ensuring time for rest and personal interests alongside study.

A significant influence on Tiffany’s journey was her English EAL/D teacher, Ms Collins, whose personalised teaching approach and encouragement helped Tiffany build confidence and belief in her own abilities. Reflecting on her time at Stella, Tiffany describes becoming more confident, independent, and resilient, well-prepared for university and future academic success.

Following her sister's footsteps, Tiffany is planning to return to Sydney and study Business/Commerce at UNSW or USYD.
