NSWCCC Representatives

Congratulations to the Stella students who have represented Stella at CGSSSA and NSWCCC level over recent weeks.

Touch Football: Congratulations to Summer B, Giselle B, Charlotte B, Ellie F, April U, Lara M, Zsa Zsa B, Ana T and Mia L who represented CGSSSA at the NSWCCC Touch Championships on the Central Coast on 29 and 30 April. The Stella girls played amazingly well and both the U15 and open team recorded outstanding results. The U15 team lost a very close semi-final 5 – 4 to Wagga, and the open team won the silver medal, losing 3 – 1 to Wollongong in the grand final. Well done to all of the Stella girls and a big congratulations to Ellie F who was selected into the NSWCCC U15 touch team.

Swimming: The NSWCCC Swimming Championships were held at Sydney Olympic Park late in Term 1. Stella had four students representing CGSSSA at this event: Zara D, Jess O, Mila C and Charlie C. Zara and Jess had fantastic swims in their individual events and teamed up with Mila and Charlie for the open 4 x 50m free and 4 x 50m medley relays. The relay results were outstanding, with the team finishing with the silver medal in the 4 x 50m free (just 0.01second behind the gold medal!) and 5th in the medley relay.

The relay team will now represent NSWCCC at the NSW All Schools Swimming Championships later this term. Well done!

Hockey: Congratulations to Riliegh S who has been selected into the NSWCCC hockey team. Well done on this outstanding achievement!

Congratulations to Ana T who was selected to play in the U15 team at the NSWCCC netball championships later this term.

Rugby League: Congratulations to Mia L, Lara M and Poppy F who attended the CG/BB rugby league trials late in Term 1. All three Stella students played well, with Mia and Lara selected to attend the Metro level trials. Mia was again successful at the metro trials and has been selected to represent the Sydney metro team at NSW Championships later this term.

IGSA Grand Final Winners

Congratulations to the Stella teams who played in the IGSA touch and tennis grand finals at the end of Term 1. Stella had great success in the Term 1 IGSA sports.

Congratulations to:

STM02 Tennis: our Year 7 and 8 tennis team who defeated MSB in the grand final. It was a very close and exciting game, with Stella winning by just one game!

STM01 and STM02 touch: Congratulations to both of our touch teams who went through the season undefeated and had exciting wins in the grand finals (both against Monte). The STM01 had a very close game, with scores level at full time. The game went into a drop off and after 20 minutes of extra time, Stella scored to win the grand final. The STM02 grand final was a lot less stressful, with Stella leading from the start to win the game 5 – 1.

Peninsula Cup Rugby 7s

The Peninsula Cup Rugby 7s Gala Day was held at North Narrabeen Reserve at the end of Term 1. Stella had three teams playing in this event. All three teams played very well, with many of our players new to the game. They trained hard throughout Term 1 and their efforts paid off with their improvement and good results. Well done to all three teams!

AFL Grand Final

Congratulations to the Year 7/8 AFL team who played in the grand final of the Sydney Independent Schools AFL competition. The Stella team played really well and it was a very close game! With the scores equal at full time, the game went into extra time, but unfortunately the Stella team lost by just one goal. Congratulations to all members of the team and a special mention to Emily C who was awarded the best on ground for the grand final.

Bill Turner Soccer

The 2025 Bill Turner campaign has begun, with Stella having two great games to start the season. Stella played Barrenjoey High late in Term 1 and had a great 10 – 0 win. We then moved through to round two against Oxford Falls Grammar. It was another great game, with Stella dominating with a 7 – 0 win. Congratulations to all members of the team and we look forward to many more great games in this knockout competition.

Sailing News

A Sea of Learning and a Boatload of Fun

Last term, our Stella Sailors enjoyed eight spectacular Wednesday afternoons sailing on Middle Harbour in the Melges sports boats. Guided by experienced instructors, the girls learned to read the wind, tack, gybe, and sail the boats with growing knowledge and confidence.

It was wonderful to see and hear them out on the water, building new skills, teamwork and friendships. We’ll be sailing again in Term 4 and look forward to welcoming back our enthusiastic sailors for more afternoons of adventure on the harbour.

Stella Sailors Impress at the 46th Australian Secondary Schools Sailing Championships

Over the April school holidays, Daisy F (Year 9) and Alana H (Year 8) proudly represented Stella Maris College at the 46th Australian Secondary Schools Sailing Championships at Belmont 16ft Sailing Club. With 80 boats from schools across NSW competing, the regatta was a true test of skill and endurance.

Daisy and Alana spent four days racing in tough, windy conditions in their Flying 11 on Lake Macquarie. Despite this being only their second event together, they delivered an impressive performance finishing 8th among all girl crews, securing 9th place within the Flying 11 fleet and placing 41st overall. This is a fantastic result against such strong competition!

Congratulations to Daisy and Alana for their skill, teamwork and determination in the face of tough sailing conditions. A huge thanks to their families for facilitating and supporting their daughters in this impressive endeavour. We are incredibly proud of Daisy and Alana and thank them for representing Stella so well.
