Visual Arts Department

This Monday our Year 9 Visual Arts class was very fortunate to have a full morning of acrylic painting here in our new art rooms. Meredith Rasdall, who is a Northern Beaches Artist and Educator, guided our students through the processes of landscape painting using images of the Northern Beaches to provide inspiration for the students' paintings.

Meredith guided our students through a range of techniques, including exploring colour mixing on different backgrounds, experimenting with credit card painting as a palette knife, chalking over blackboard surfaces, and painting around shapes to create striking black outlines in their landscapes. The paintings created by our students were outstanding.

It was such a great opportunity to create and spend some extended time experimenting and creating. Our lovely Year 9 students were fully engaged in the process and were both encouraging and complimentary toward their peers. Meredith was very impressed with the girls' talents, their concentration and even with their clean up!
